Apparent Change to the DAS Approval Window at Disney Parks

So last night, I got out of a local (to me) meeting where I was speaking on accessibility issues within my local government, and when I logged on to check on things, I started seeing notifications that some people were reporting that they had just had a DAS call and were being approved for 240 days, instead of the 120 that until now, has been the standard. I checked the Walt Disney World website, and there was no indication that anything had changed, and still, more and more report were coming. I hopped onto TikTok and posted about the rumored change.

Did Disney just change the DAS again?! Some people are now reporting getting approved for 240 days instead of 120. I know it’s felt like we haven’t been making much of a difference lately, but this is showing that there are changes happening. I think theyre are bigger changes to come, and I’m gonna make another video talking about what I think the timeline may look like (pure speculation, of course) #disability #disabled #accessthemouse #Disney #DAS #disneyparks #WaltDisneyWorld #WDW #disabledatdisney #disneywithdisabilities #DASchanges

Today, that information was confirmed by a TikTok user via screenshot, which I shared in another video (seen below, with caption underneath).

Replying to @Day by day @@jamieleeshared this screenshot from the DAS chat, that shows that, yes, the 240 day window is going to be a thing for at least some guests. Thank you to @@🦓 Mama Zebra 🦓for tagging me and letting me know.

This video is a response to a comment that read “Well I would love to see the proof like I have. That would be great.”
The image shows a screenshot for a DAS chat, with a section circled in red, with a white arrow pointed and the word “here”. That sectioned circle reads, in part, “if we are able to register you for DAS again, then that registration would be valid for 240 days.”

As of the time I’m writing this, there still has been no update to the Walt Disney World website. I’ve also heard from Disneyland Magic Key holders that this has been changed for them as well, with no info on that site either. Since this is all super new and nothing has been publicly released about this change, I started a Google Forms survey to try to gather information about who is getting access to this longer approval window. This is a super short, anonymous survey primarily focused on understanding the approval window changes and who they apply to.

A note about these changes: I know – this is not the big sweeping changes in eligibility that we are hoping to see to the program, but it DOES show that the dial is moving and things are happening. Bigger changes need to happen, and I believe we may start to see things on that front in the coming months, but it’s going to take a lot of advocacy. Please continue sharing your stories, filling out the RTQ surveys, making videos and reaching out – it’s working.
