Disney Cruise Line News

Howdy, there! I’m taking a quick pause from my usual content today to geek out a little.

For those of you who don’t know, Disney Cruise Line teased the “Disney Destiny” a few months ago. This Heroes and Villains themed addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet was introduced via a comic-book style video on YouTube, Viewers noticed symbols and icons representing Marvel, Pixar, and classic Disney animation characters… including my teenager’s all-time favorite – Hercules.

Two photos from 2023 on a purple background, where my teenager did a Megara DisneyBound at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Teenager’s face is covered by an emoji. On the left is a full look at the outfit, inspired by Megara from Disney’s “Hercules” The outfit has a knee-length light purple sleeveless dress with a darker purple sash and bronze-colored decorative elements on the shoulders and sash. Top-Right shows the same outfit, with the teenager standing in front of a tv playing “Hercules” at our Disney Resort hotel, and holding a small grey plush Cerberus. Text reads “Megara DisneyBound” and the Access the Mouse logo is in the bottom right corner.

After the “Theme Reveal” video was shared back in March 2024, things were pretty quiet for a few months, but last week some Disney YouTubers started sharing promotional materials on their channels (luggage bags and “mystery” patches to decorate them with, featuring Black Panther, Jack-Jack, Pain and Panic, a Haunted Mansion ghost, and more). The press kits were sent out with the announcement that more info would be shared this week, on 7/30-8/1 on the Disney Parks Blog at 10 am each day.

Let me be clear – my teenager has been losing their mind since the teaser featuring Hercules. We’ve been told that this is all they want to do for their birthdays and Christmases for the next couple years. This child, the biggest Greek mythology geek I know, has been ranting about the lack of Herc representation in the parks and merch for years. (And will talk Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the books, the Disney+ series, the musical, you name it, for DAYS.) We have been holding our breath waiting on this reveal.

The reveal this morning was big. A “The Lion King” themed dinner show, an Edna Mode sweets shop, a duo of quick service eateries – “Cafe Megara” (!!!!) and “Cafe Merida,” and a stateroom and suite reveal featuring “Fantasia,” “The Incredibles,” and (our favorite Greek demi-god) “Hercules!” There were shrieks of excitement, and even some tears about how awesome it looks. (And let me tell you, the Hercules “Hero Suites” are giving me life right now and may lead to a massive redesign of my interior decorating)

If you have not had a chance to check out the news, I highly suggest doing so. There’s so much more to be revealed over the next couple days, and I’ll definitely be checking in each day.
