General Blog Updates

Hey everyone, I know posts have been somewhat sporadic the last couple weeks, but I just want to really quickly reassure you all that I am, in fact, still here and working on the blog. I am a one-person operation, I’m disabled, and there’s a lot to keep up with lately.

My priority at the moment is keeping the “RTQ Database” updated weekly. In the background, I’m working on a new format to make it easier to follow and understand. I anticipate this taking a couple weeks, given the amount of work that’s going into it. I’m also a “table” person, and often use tables in graphics, so I’m seeking input on how to make this information more accessible to blind and visually impaired visitors to the site. (If you have any suggestions for this, please email me at accessthemouseinfo@gmail.com. I’m not as aware as I’d like to be on how assistive technology like screen readers work, and if there’s a specific program or format I can use to be more inclusive, I’d like to do that.)

I’ve also updated my contact info. The top right portion of the header for this site now includes a “Contribute to Access the Mouse” quick link. In this section, you’ll find links to several Google Forms that I use specifically for contributions, not only the RTQ database, but also a section for general feedback, contributions, tips, and collaboration requests. I also have a link on there to contribute to the Fat-Friendly Parks series, which I am hoping to expand a little, in the future, to include more people of various sizes and shapes. I’m also accepting photos – particularly those of ride seats/restraint systems and of allergy menus and ingredient pages from the allergy binders, but those must be sent through email to accessthemouseinfo@gmail.com at this time.

I’m working on another project relating to food allergies in the parks, as well. It will hopefully be up and running by Fall. It was a planned project for last year that got put on the back burner when I had to pause blogging for a bit, but I’m excited to be able to work on it again. In the meantime, I’ll be sharing allergy info about a new restaurant each week on Fridays.
