When it comes to character dining with the Disney Princesses at Walt Disney World, there are two main options: Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion at EPCOT. Our family has dined at Akershus a few times and always loved the environment and the Norwegian cuisine offered here.
When COVID-19 led to the closure of Disney Parks around the world, it took a while for Akershus to re-open their doors. Finally, on November 4, 2022, the dinner character dining experience came back, and now it was recently announced that the restaurant will be bringing back breakfast and lunch seatings on May 14, in just a little over two weeks. The lunch and dinner seatings share the same menu, while breakfast take a menu of it’s own. I’ll be sharing allergy-friendly items and matrices for both menus below.
A note on the Allergy Matrix for this post: I am changing the format some for the matrices that I share. I’m testing this format out with some modifications to the tables (using red and green) that I HOPE make it a little easier to read at a glance. I am also keeping the X’s for items that contain specific allergens, as I know some people who need these charts may not be able to distinguish between the colors. Please let me know whether you like the color-coded matrix system or prefer the old style without the red and green color indicator either in a comment here (or on one of blogs social media channels) or via e-mail at accessthemouseinfo@gmail.com. I make these for you guys as much as for myself, and I want them to be as user-friendly as possible.
Remember the Golden Rules of Disney Allergy Dining:
- Disney doesn’t include highly-refined oils, including soybean oil on their allergy menus
- Disney has strong protocols in place to avoid cross-contact, but it’s never 100% guaranteed. There are not separate allergy-friendly kitchens.
- Allergy Advisory Statements (such as “may contain” or “shared equipment” or “same facility”) are not regulated and are not factored into the allergens in a dish.
- ALWAYS inform your server of any allergies, speak to an allergy coordinator (at quick service restaurants), speak to the chefs making your food when possible (table service restaurants are great with this), and check the allergy binders where available for your allergens.
If you’re just here for the allergen matrix, you can scroll to the bottom and skip the rest! I make every effort to keep this up-to-date, but always verify the safety of what you’re hoping to eat with the chef or allergy coordinator.

My Thoughts
Guests with shellfish allergies should be fine here, as well as most guests with allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. Guests with a milk allergy are going to have more issues than others here, because nearly all the entree options have milk. Guests with allergies to all of the Top 9 have a couple options here as well. At breakfast, mixed fruit, bacon, and sausage are available for all Top 9. At lunch and dinner, guests can do the mixed greens, green beans, red cabbage, plant-based bratwurst, and the plant-based vanilla gelato. Vegan guests have options here for lunch and dinner as well. I personally would love to see the Norwegian meatballs given an Top Allergy-safe version, as it’s one of the staples of the menu, but in the meantime, I’d be happy trying something new here. Breakfast honestly feels a little lacking for vegan guests or those who are Top Allergen free.
