Fat-Friendly Parks: The Series

UPDATE 6/30/2024: I’m currently looking for other guests with various body shapes/sizes to contribute their experiences for this series. We’re especially looking for tall and/or plus size guests, covering not only the 4 main Walt Disney World parks, but also the water parks and Disneyland/DCA. If you’re interested, check out my Google Form here.

UPDATE 4/13/2023: Updates for rides I went on in March are live now. These include updates for several rides I had never been on (Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON: Lightcycle/Run, the Star Wars rides in Galaxy’s Edge, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and more) AND updates about mobility device access or issues I ran into with rides I had previously been on (including Star Tours, Soarin’, DINOSAUR, Pirates of the Caribbean, and several others).

The parks at Walt Disney World are the most fat-friendly, plus-size or “Pooh-Size” welcoming theme parks in existence. As a self-identified fat person, I’ve done “the walk” from several rides at other parks when I can’t get the restraints to close… one major chain closer to our family’s residence only has a carousel and tea cup ride that I can fit on, plus swimming in the pools at the water park. I wear between a 3-5x, and with very few exceptions, I have been able to comfortably ride or experience anything I’ve wanted to at Walt Disney World. In this series, we’re going to look at what rides and attractions I’ve been able to ride or do, which were a no-go, and which I could experience with special considerations.

This series is ONLY going to focus on the rides and attractions in the four main gate parks, but I’ll be highlighting the water parks and the dining and shopping options in the future. That said, I’ve never run into an issue with a restaurant’s seating options at Walt Disney World, because they generally have chairs without arms available or have tables that aren’t bolted down if I want to sit in a booth.

I’m also looking to expand my info on other Disney Parks and Experiences around the world. If you’ve been on a Disney Cruise, an Adventures by Disney Trip, or to one of the Disney parks on the West Coast or in another country and would like to contribute your experience to expand the website, email me at accessthemouseinfo@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible! (I’m also looking for other guests experiences at Walt Disney World! I haven’t been able to do everything, and even if I had, all bodies are different and I’d love to get more representation for more bodies and abilities on the site!)
