Dining Changes at Walt Disney World Since 2020, and Our Upcoming Trip

My family is currently gearing up for a much-needed return to the parks. The kids are beyond excited. We’ve got a couple long-overdue celebrations, a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation that’s been a long time coming, and a first haircut appointment at Harmony Barbershop for the littlest kiddo.

If you haven’t been to Walt Disney World in a few years, there have been some big changes with dining since the parks closed in 2020. Some character meals have yet to return, buffets were moved to a more controlled “family style” service, the Disney Dining Plan has been unavailable (and there’s speculation that it may be gone for good), and the timing for getting your Advance Dining Reservations (or ADR’s) has changed dramatically.

Pre-pandemic, guests staying on-site were able to book ADR’s for their length of stay at 180 days prior to their arrival date. Now those reservations don’t open up until 60 days out. So there I was last week, feeling like I was scrambling last-minute to get the reservations my family is hoping for.

In the end, we got all our must-do reservations, and my wife and I already have a list started for the next time we make it down without the kids. I can’t wait to share how things go with you all!
